Water Gardens
Water gardens transform an outdoor living space into a beautiful paradise where you can relax, unwind, and enjoy quality time with family and friends. Water features become the focal point of any garden with their melodious tunes and natural ability to attract a variety of birds and butterflies.
The sound of a water feature will drown out noise from traffic or neighbors. In addition, water features provide an interesting backdrop for entertaining while adding aesthetic appeal to your landscape. Whether you tuck a decorative fountain near the entrance of your home or create a backyard habitat with an ecosystem pond and waterfall, you’ll find each day enhanced when you waterscape your landscape.
Hornwort
Hornwort is a submergible aquatic plant that has many uses in a water garden. It has a dark green fern-like foliage that provides excellent habitat for baby fish. Hornwort is a natural oxygenator and will release oxygen into the pond. It plays an important role in nitrate consumption, keeping water free from fish harming toxins. The best way to plant hornwort into a pond is to submerge it and anchor it with a rock.
Water Hyacinth
Water hyacinths are a beautiful free-floating aquatic plant. They have gorgeous purple flowers that rise about 6” above thick green succulent type foliage. These plants add great color and texture to the pond, but that is not the most important thing they do. Water hyacinths will multiply and provide shelter for fish from both the sun and predators. The roots of the water hyacinths do a great job of consuming nitrate from the pond, keeping conditions safe for fish and other aquatic animals.
